National Cadet Corps (NCC), D.A.V. COLLEGE

During First World War, Britisher's created the University Corps with an aim for second line of defence and also to have a large pool of trained youth available for employment into the Armed Forces NCC in India was conceptualised and raised before independence, mainly with an aim to groom the youth, boys and girls both, nurture them and channelise their energy towards nation building by making them responsible citizen. After independence, the present day NCC came into existence on 16 Apr 1948, through XXXI Act of Parliament NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948. The Girls Division of the NCC was raised in Jul 1949. On 01 Apr 1950, Air Wing was raised, with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata. The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in Jul 1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Today the NCC has an enrolled strength of more than 16 Lakhs cadets and it basically comprises of two divisions of the entire three Services i.e. the Senior Division/Senior Wing for boys/girls from colleges and the Junior Division/Junior Wing for boys/girls from schools. The Motto of NCC is 'Unity and Discipline. (World's largest uniformed institution with around 16 lakh cadets)

AIMS OF THE NCC:

  1. To develop following qualities in the cadets:-(a) Development of Character,(b) Comradeship,(c) Discipline,(d) Secular Outlook,(e) Spint of Adventure,(f) Sportsmanship,(g) Ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
  2. To create a human resource of Organised, Trained and Motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation
  3. To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

OBJECTIVES OF THE NCC:

  1. Reach out to the maximum youths through various institutions
  2. Make NCC as an important part of the society
  3. Teach positive thinking and attitude to the youths.
  4. Become a main source of National Integration by making NCC as one of the greatest cohesive force of our nation irrespective of any caste, creed, religion or region
  5. Mould the youth of the entire country into a united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
  6. Provide an ideal platform for the youth to showcase their potential in nation building.
  7. Instill spirit of secularism and united India by organizing National Integration Camps all over the country.
  8. Reach out to the youths of friendly foreign countries through Youth Exchange Programmes (YEP) Three wings- Army Navy Air Force

Enrolment Process:

NCC in College Campus:
The Directorate General of NCC, based in Delhi, oversees a total of 17 directorates across the country. One of these is the Rajasthan Directorate, headquartered in Jaipur. Under this directorate, there are four groups, including the Jodhpur Group. The 15 Rajasthan NCC Battalion operates under the Jodhpur Group. Within this battalion, an NCC unit functions at DAV College in Sri Ganganagar. We have 100 vacancies in NCC.
Two types of NCC training are conducted in the college by trained associate NCC officers.
(1) Institutional training which is conducted inside the institution.
(2) Camp training which is a 10 to 15 day residential camp outside the institution in which cadets are given training in trekking, mountaineering, shooting, tent pitching and many other types of army training.
Certificates:
• After two year of training and examination B certificate is given
• After three year of training and examination C certificate is given Apart from this, various types of character building social service activities such as blood donation, tree plantation, awareness rally etc. are also conducted by the cadets in the college.
