Introduction of NSS:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) in India was launched on 24 September 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. The program is run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on 24 September 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi.The scheme aims to develop individual and character of students through social service and community development.
Under the NSS program, students get the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as national integration camps, adventure programs, and special camps.The aim of the NSS is to help students bridge the gap between education and social needs, thereby contributing meaningfully to the development of the country.
The NSS logo is based on the chariot wheel of the Konark Sun Temple located in Odisha, which depicts the cycle of creation, preservation, and liberation.NSS is run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
NSS in DAV College:
Two units of National Service Scheme are working in DAV College. Each unit has 100 volunteers, a total of 200 students are registered in NSS. Every year a seven-day camp is organized by NSS and in addition to this, three one-day camps are organized in which students participate enthusiastically.The main objective of National Service Scheme is to make students aware of cleanliness and to discharge social responsibility. Apart from this, many tours are organized from time to time by the Government of India in which students participate. For the last few years, students have been participating in National Integration Camps at Manali, Chandigarh and other places. Under this, they were honored and rewarded at the national level. The entire expense of which is borne by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of India. Apart from this, students are also made to observe an educational tour during the camp in which students were taken to Kalibanga and Pakistan border.
Every year, in the National Service Scheme, a blood donation camp is organized with the help of the college principal Dr. Meenu Poonia and other staff, in which students and staff participate enthusiastically in the blood donation camp.
